Corona-virus origin, source, infection, symptoms, prevention, cure, myths
WHO has declared Coronavirus a pandemic now as it has spread geographically all around the world .Pandemic has nothing to do with the severity of disease but its fast spread. It has caused global chaos, and everybody is under high stress.126,362 has been the latest figure of the infected persons worldwide, and the death toll has now risen to 4633 people. It originated in mainland china in a Wuhan market in December 2019 and started to spread very quickly
Covid-19 is closely related to SARS and MERS. Its original source is not yet known but thought to be transferred to humans through animals such as Bats or Pangolin. It is an infectious disease of the respiratory system, symptoms include runny nose, cough, fever, and difficulty in breathing generally, but in some cases, it can cause severe pneumonia and even organ failure.
There is no vaccine developed yet. And only prevention is through practicing personal hygiene, washing hands frequently, don’t touch your nose and mouth with unwashed hands, avoid going to crowded places. If someone is not feeling well, they should also take care to cough or sneeze into their elbow or tissue papers and dispose of them properly, wear a mask and avoid contact with other people to prevent the spread of the virus.
Many myths are circulating about this virus, like eating garlic or onion can cure or prevent it, but according to WHO, these are false claims. Pouring disinfectant on your body and clothes can not prevent you from the virus, but it can cause skin or eye irritation. Taking long hot baths is one of another myth, but it is not valid because body temperature remains the same, and bathing with warm water can burn you instead.
The mortality rate of Coronavirus is 2 – 5 %, among which most of the persons belonging to the aged group or persons already having health issues. A very interesting thing is observed that children under 10 are very low in numbers that contracted the virus or become seriously ill. Researchers are baffled by this pattern because regular flu and infections don’t behave in this manner, and children are the most that are affected generally. Its incubation period is 14 days, which is much more than the ordinary flu. It takes 15 to 20 days to recover from this virus, according to doctors.
Vaccines are under trials yet, so we don’t know when one is ready. The only thing that prevents it is by washing hands frequently with soap for at least 20 sec. Traveling restrictions are taking place all around the world. Mainly affected countries are China , Italy, Iran, Japan, South Korea but almost every other country on the globe is being infected showing small numbers.Cases are rising day by day in many countries. Whole Italy is on high alert and locked down. Surprisingly as there are many bad news, One big positive news is that China has closed down all of its make shift hospitals for battling Covid-19 amid significant fall in the number of new cases.
